We are thrilled to share that Kirkland Living magazine has published an article featuring Anika Joshi, the founder of iHeartSTEM.org. As a young achiever, Anika has already made a big impact in her community through her love of science and innovation. In the article Anika shares her journey from childhood, where she spent hours playing in science museums and building cool projects with her family, to now, where she is using her knowledge and skills to help those in need.
During the pandemic in 2020, Anika continued to pursue her love for science by learning about Arduino and creating a prototype to retrofit water dispensers into touchless ones to reduce transmission of viruses in schools. She has now turned this device into a business, SipSafe. In 2022, SipSafe was the winner of the Northwest Teen Startup Competition (watch the Anika Joshi’s pitch for SipSafe) organized by the Kirkland Chamber of Commerce. Here is the announcement from Kirkland Chamber of Commerce. She hopes to donate SipSafe devices to schools and public spaces that could use them.
Anika's passion for science doesn't stop there. She has started iHeartSTEM.org, where kids and parents can subscribe to receive bi-weekly fun science activities that they can do at home. She also runs camps and sets up booths at local events to engage young kids and show them how much fun science can be.
Anika's story is an inspiring testament to the difference we can all make in the community through engagement and innovation. We encourage you to read the full article in Kirkland Living magazine and support Anika's efforts to spread the joy of STEM education to young minds.
